Sunshine Lady House for Mental Health, Wellness & Recovery 615/617 Wolfe Street, Fredericksburg, VA
This building houses the RACSB Crisis Stabilization Program, which helps persons experiencing acute psychiatric crisis put their lives back together. This 7,000 square foot facility has been designed to blend with the neighboring houses, looking more like a bed and breakfast than a mental health facility.
The plan provides numerous possibilities for treatment opportunities, from group meeting rooms to informal places to meet one-on-one. Sight lines have been maintained to help keep visual contact with the residents and monitor the activities of the house. A large residential kitchen has been designed with ease of operation and the need to feed almost twenty people daily in mind. The facility, while residential in feel, has been designed with commercial grade finishes for easier cleaning and maintenance. Spaces include admissions screening, group treatment rooms, kitchen and dining, bedrooms for twelve clients, and staff offices.
